The first certificated helicopter in Canada and the entire the British Commonwealth, the SG-VI-D (nicknamed the "Grey Gull") was developed as a utility helicopter. It featured tricycle undercarriage with an enclosed cabin.
A follow-up variant (the SG-VI-E) was developed with a more powerful engine, but was never produced.
