Charles D. Franklin

LTGen. Charles D. Franklin, USA (ret.) served in the Army for 34 years, including duty as chief and deputy chief of legislative liaison in the Secretary of the Army's office, and chief of staff of the 9th Infantry Division.  He flew helicopters in Vietnam, and also served in Germany.

He received numerous awards and decorations, including the Silver Star, Distinguished Service Medal, the Legion of Merit with oak leaf cluster, Distinguished Flying Cross, and Army Commendation Medal with oak leaf cluster. In later years, LtGen. Franklin headed up the AHS Federal City Chapter's Initiative 21 effort, which was established to attract more students, members of minority groups, and women to the Chapter and the Society. Franklin died March 16, 1992, in Fairfax, Virginia. He was 60.
