Chee Tung

Dr. Chee Tung received his BS degree from National Taiwan University, MS degree from Polytechnic University of Brooklyn, and PhD degree from New York University.  After graduation, Dr. Tung worked as a research engineer at Calspan Corporation and Brookhaven National Laboratory before he joined US Army Aero Flight Dynamics Directorate in 1979. Dr. Chee had been working as a Research Scientist; Group Leader of Unsteady Aerodynamics Group in Fluid Mechanics Division; Deputy Chief of Aeromechanics Branch in Army/NASA Rotorcraft Division; and the Chief of Aeromechanics Division before he retired from US Army Aero Flight Dynamics Directorate (AFDD), AMRDEC in 2006.

Dr. Tung is very well recognized due to his outstanding research work related to rotorcraft aerodynamics and great leadership in the rotorcraft community.  Dr. Chee Tung has published more than 100 technical reports and papers related to rotorcraft aerodynamics and served as the Associate Editor of Journal of the American Helicopter Society (JAHS).  Dr. Tung has received numerous awards and honors due to his outstanding work performance, which include AHS Technical Fellow (2006); AHS Howard Hughes Award (2004); AIAA Associate Fellow (1999); US Army R&D Award (1995 and 2004); Director’s Award for Technical Excellence of US Amy Aero Flight Dynamics Directorate (1994).

After his retirement, Dr. Tung has been working as a technical consultant and voluntary emeritus scientist of AFDD to mentor and advise young researchers and engineers of the Aeromechanics Division of US Amy Aero Flight Dynamics Directorate up to now.
