Godfrey Rockfeller

A graduate of Phillips Academy at Andover and Yale college (class of 1945), Godfrey Rockefeller served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II from 1943 to 1946 and during the Korean Conflict from 1952 to 1954, where he rose to the rank of Major as a Naval aviator. For 25 years, he was active in commercial helicopter industry, ultimately serving a term as Chairman of the Helicopter Association International.

Throughout his life, Godfrey was devoted to the protection of the natural environment. He was elected Executive Director of the World Wildlife Fund from 1972 to 1978.


Godfrey A. Rockefeller, a lifetime trustee of the AHS's Vertical Flight Foundation, passed on January 22, 2010.
