First flight of the NASA/ARMY RSRA/S-72 in the full compound configuration

Monday, April 10, 1978 - Wallops Flight Test Center, United States of America



This was the first flight of the Rotor Systems Research Aircraft (RSRA) / Sikorsky S-72 in it's full compound configuration (main rotor, wing and auxiliary propulsion); it was flown to Moffett Field.

The pilots were Sikorsky test pilots Charles Reine and Gerald Stoffer.
