First transatlantic helicopter flight completed (Sikorsky H-19A)

Description

This was a significant step in proving that helicopters had both the performance and reliability to achieve such a significant journey.

The flight was made by 2 Sikorsky H-19A's. The aircraft took-off from Westover Air Force Base, MA, USA with Prestwick, Scotland the point of touchdown - a distance of 3,535 miles.
