First Rotating Wing Aircraft Meeting commences

Description

This was the start date of the first professional, technical meeting dedicated to rotary wing technology. It was from this event that the American helicopter industry was born.

The meeting was held over the 27-29 October and was hosted by the Philadelphia Chapter of the Institute of Aeronautical Sciences (IAS, the forerunner of AIAA).
