First flight of the Von Baumhauer Helicopter

The pilot was Lt. F.H. van Heyst . The aircraft only managed a few semi-controlled hops but included some novel features,

  • The use a single main rotor
  • One of the first uses of a tail rotor
  • The use of collective and cyclic pitch control via the use of the swashplate principle
