U.S.C.G directed to develop helicopters for sea-going operations

Description

The direction was provided to the United States Coast Guard (U.S.C.G.) by the Commander in Chief, U.S. Fleet and Chief of Naval Operations. The order covered the sea-going development of helicopters including the use of helicopters in convoys. Subsequently, the development of helicopters was made a joint responsibility of American and British teams, supervised by the Bureau of Aeronautics.
