The company was originally founded as R. J. Enstrom Corp in 1959, which ceased operating in 1970. It is based in based in Menominee, Michigan. Other owners have included the noted trial lawyer and helicopter pilot, F. Lee Bailey; Victor and Dean Kamen; and an unnamed Swiss investor. In Jan 2013 the company was purchased by Chongquing Helicopter Investment Co. (CQHIC) of the People's Republic of China. |
