It looks like the overview images of the A129 Mangusta are not of that aircraft. The top one for sure has a five-bladed rotor, and it looks like the bottom one does too (the original A129 had a four-bladed rotor). Plus they both have guns, which the original A129 did not. It looks like the top image may be an A129 international, and the bottom one the same or maybe a CBT.

Yes, these do look like 5 blade main rotors. Also, the Main Rotor tab lists a 4-bladed main rotor so these images are incorrect. The images could be moved to the linked AW129 Type page and some new ones will need to be found for an actual early development A129.

Good quality images of the A are hard to find! In fact, the one we used is actually of the prototype. If anybody has images of the A129A (or other vertical lift aircraft, for that matter) that you would like to share with Vertipedia, why not get involved? We welcome your participation.

Not sure that there was any such designation as an A129A. The first production aircraft for the Italian military had the military designation AH-129A, albeit it was basically the same configuration as the A129 Mangusta.

This highlights an issue within Vertipedia about the dual naming of aircraft (manufacturer designation and operator designation).
